Well I certainly hope no one else is logged into this VM that I just rebooted to install system updates, but if someone is, I won’t feel too sorry about them losing their work, helpful shutdown prompt.

@brooke@bikeshed.vibber.net And adapting the iframe element would have even let it degrade gracefully on older browsers. Well, as gracefully as a pixel-specific rectangle can, anyway.

How finalized is the rel=”self” part? I was thinking I might submit a PR to Snac for this, but I see at least Mastodon and GoToSocial use rel=”alternate” and Threads doesn’t seem to have a rel attribute on the tag.

Mozilla Drops Onerep
“The nonprofit organization that supports the Firefox web browser said today it is winding down its new partnership with Onerep, an identity protection service recently bundled with Firefox that offers to remove users from hundreds of people-search sites. The move comes just days after a report by KrebsOnSecurity forced Onerep’s CEO to admit that he has founded dozens of people-search networks over the years.”
“Mozilla only began bundling Onerep in Firefox last month, when it announced the reputation service would be offered on a subscription basis as part of Mozilla Monitor Plus.”

Database
Every time my websites’ database server goes down, two things cross my mind:
– Would it be worth managing the server myself so I can at least troubleshoot it?
– Would it be worth migrating two decades’ worth of WordPress blog posts to a static site generator and just ditching the DB going forward?
OK, three:
– What changed that is causing the server to go down every couple of weeks instead of once a year?

Oh, that’s cool! Could probably build one with a bigger screen. I wonder if the pi 0 is strong enough to run an IDE…
The Freewrite Traveler looks really nice, though. If it wasn’t single-purpose…
