Today I spotted some of the feral parakeets that live in the suburbs around here. I hear them squawking as they fly overhead almost daily, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen them, and even longer since I’ve seen them close enough and still enough to photograph!

I really like that the NextCloud Notes app uses a folder-and-text-file back end. I can use the nice mobile app on my phone, the nice web interface when I want to…or just open the file in a freaking text editor.
Worth noting: They’re closing beaches for the holiday weekend not because beaches are inherently dangerous for viral transmission, but because *crowds* are dangerous, and on hot holiday weekends, lots of people like going to the beach, which produces…crowds.
Cases of a deadly pandemic are spiking and hospitals are filling up, but somehow, not being able to go to the beach on July 4 is OMG tyranny? REALLY?
Grow up. Take some responsibility for the people around you. Your beach party is not more important than their lives.

The Nielsen/Norman group has a long history of finding design trends that are horrible for usability but are absolutely EVERYWHERE and doing actual research to show that “No, you really shouldn’t do that if you want people to be able to actually *use* your site.”
I’m not sure if they’ve ever managed to slow or stop those trends, but at least they post articles that I can point people to.
