@abetterjulie I think I know who you mean. I’ve been watching in morbid fascination to see whether he catches on or leaves.
Though I probably should just ignore and check back later…

Because this year wasn’t weird enough already, the upcoming Christmas special from DC #Comics is the “DC Nuclear Winter Special,” featuring post-apocalyptic holiday tales. 😕
I’ve got an old “Weird Al” song running through my head now.
And a need for an emoji based on a certain Jackie Chan meme.

@dansup I got a comment spam on my blog yesterday with the reporting-a-problem-in-some-browser template…that described IE as still being the market leader!
Nighttime #FerrisWheel. You can’t tell that the sky is covered with smoke because the layer is too high.
@snipejaeg Glad you got it working!
Needy email from FB: “A lot has happened on Facebook since you last logged in.”
FFS, it was literally *yesterday*.
I think I’d use the site more *without* the constant begging to come back.
Tip jar at an ice cream place that uses liquid nitrogen to make you ice cream really fresh.
Statues of a family of #mastodons watching helplessly while one of their own is trapped in the #LaBrea Tar Pits.
Naturally-occurring asphalt (yes, #LosAngeles had asphalt millennia before it had cars!) seeps out of the ground all over the area. Portable fences keep people from stepping in it. #Prehistoric animals were less fortunate, and a museum houses an incredible array of #IceAge fossils found here.
(Flashback to 2013, can’t believe I hadn’t posted it here yet.)
@OldBrushNewPaper @DialMforMara I’ve been infuriated by that too. IMO push notices on a social platform should be reserved for actual interactions – requests ot notices from *people*, not requests from the platform.
This brings back memories of my old spamfighting days.

Is there a concept of an #ActivityPub hub?
I’m thinking long-term it would be cool to have my own federated microblog, full blog, and photo gallery, using the most appropriate software for each, but present them as accounts on a single hostname instead of having to do a separate subdomain for each.
I saw a T-shirt today with the slogan:
Chemically speaking, whiskey is a solution.
@offtheball I’m always amused by the dancing around they do in that exchange to get around the censors.
Though considering they managed to get “You’re out of your Vulcan mind!” on the air in another episode…
Now that @pixelfed is close to supporting federation, I’m considering how I want to handle photos with my various Fediverse accounts.
I feel like this place is more for the artistic shots (successful or otherwise), while I can post anything random/interesting at @KelsonV. Other images, or photos that need more commentary, maybe should go on @KelsonV?
The cool thing is if something fits in 2 places, I can post in the more specific one and boost it to the other!
*sigh* Consistent identity across servers vs. servers getting truncated when displaying usernames…
I’m thinking here for artistic photos, pixelfed for random photos, and Wandering Shop (my main Mastodon profile) for screencaps, pics that need commentary, etc
Stumbled on a link to this in another article. I was literally planning to use this feature to set up a list sometime this week that I could use to narrow down the FB firehose when I only have a few minutes, in hopes that I might actually keep up with at least some of my friends instead of avoiding Facebook because I’m so far behind.
So much for that idea.

Finally spotted the plant whose spiky seeds keep puncturing bike tires. It’s a low, creeping mat that can grow right next to the path and spread onto it, and the seeds grow in clusters. The dried seeds’ spikes punch straight through, sometimes to the inner tube.
Unfortunately I have no idea what it is, since it doesn’t match my previous guess (sand burr / sand spur) from what I can tell.
@abetterjulie Yes, that looks like it. Thanks!

And damn, puncture vine is an accurate name…
Spotted at the county fair last night:
Deep fried Twinkie dogs and Zucchini Weenies have been joined by triple-decker donut burgers, chicken-in-a-waffle-on-a-stick, and the donut chicken and ice cream sandwich. But for sheer “because we can” ridiculousness: deep-fried filet mignon. What a waste.
…
@janellecshane This is all I can remember seeing off the top of my head at other food booths:
Deep fried Oreo
Oreo Churros
Deep Fried Snickers
PB&J Sriracha Funnel Cake
Cinnamon Roll Ice Cream Sundae
Gouda, Bacon and Jalapeno Grilled Cheese
Ravioli on a Stick
Gouda and Ravioli Grilled Cheese

I’m a hobbyist photographer in the Los Angeles area. I mostly go for scenic #photography, nature or architecture. I also look for funny/odd sights, and cosplay photos at comic conventions.
My main Mastodon account is @KelsonV, and I also talk about books & comics at @KelsonReads
