Archiving my Twitter, Facebook and other social network activity
Just some #mosstodon from a recent hike in the Palos Verdes Peninsula hills near Los Angeles. There’s a nature preserve along one of the canyons with a stream running through it that actually has water after this winter’s repeated storms, unlike when I went there last summer (or was it fall?) And it was completely dry.
Cherry blossoms are coming in at the local botanic gardens. They have a grove with multiple different cherry trees in various stages of waking up for spring (some with a few flowers, some with more flowers and leaves, some still bare), and a few scattered trees elsewhere in the garden – some of which are already covered. But the tree in the fourth shot isn’t even in full bloom yet!

I had such a hard time getting a shot of this Yellow-Rumped Warbler. It kept hopping from one twig to another as I tried to aim the camera, and actually hid behind some branches for a bit. But I finally got it!
One! Singular sensation!
A zillion starlings were moving back and forth between the greenbelt and an electrical transmission tower.
Sunset over the ocean. In the zoomed shot, just moments after sunset, you can see the silhouette of Santa Barbara Island. There’s a park up in the hills that also has a clear view of the ocean, where you can see the more distant San Nicolas Island next to it. But down here near sea level, it’s below the horizon.

Picked out the best shots of the #PointVicente bluffs. I got there mid-afternoon & took some photos of the #cove with the historic #lighthouse (and could actually see Catalina Island in the distance!)
Then I walked along the blufftop path along the nature reserve for a while, before turning back to reach the lighthouse area by sunset.

Went for a walk in the rain this morning. It usually doesn’t rain much here after April, but we got a couple of hours of drizzle today.
Though I did manage to catch this shot, which was at least (a) identifiable and (b) amusing.
I found this while looking for old pictures to submit to iNaturalist. I don’t think there’s *quite* enough detail on the seagull here to identify the species!
The ship, incidentally, is the Queen Mary, launched in the 1930s as a transatlantic liner. It’s been permanently docked in Long Beach, California for several decades and is now run as a hotel.
