Flowering Jade. In November.
Flowering #Jade. In November.
It was a pretty big one, too, probably 3-4 feet tall and maybe 7-8 feet across. Definitely bigger than you usually see it as a houseplant
Usually.
I’ve seen some pretty big jade plants in gardens, too!
Tree Squirrels
I heard a child shout, “Squirrel!” off somewhere behind me, and then this squirrel came running across the lawn and then up a tree.
Mallard (male at Hahn Park)
Sliders
At the Japanese Garden section of the park. There is a sign warning about not taking the animals, including the koi (which are deliberately stocked, I’m sure) and the turtles, though it’s possible the turtles may have been simply released here as former pets rather than deliberately stocked.

Monarch
At least two, possibly three monarchs flying around a parking lot. They settled on this tree long enough for me to catch a couple of photos.
Hummingbirds (HB, silhouetted in tree)
There were a zillion of these tiny hummingbirds darting around in the trees, pausing just long enough for me to focus and then zooming away before I could snap an actual photo. This is the only one I actually caught in frame!
Brittlebush (desert lookout)
At an overlook along the highway leading out of the mountains into the desert above Anza-Borrego.
