There’s a joke in Halo & Sprocket where they look at a reconstructed dinosaur head and Halo complains that they got the shape wrong because they didn’t account for cartilage. This dinosaur fossil was found with its skin and armored plates preserved!

I’m guessing these California wine growers being hurt by Trump’s trade war aren’t going to get the same government handout that midwest farmers are to make up for the damage. Link: The latest casualty of Trump’s trade war with China? California wine

The Cure for Poisonous Cider

Interesting story of a vanished disease called Devonshire colic, caused by drinking poisonous cider and relieved (in part) by soaking in the hot springs at Bath…

When the Cure for Poisonous Cider Was Hours of Bathtime

…because it turned out that the colic was actually lead poisoning from the cider-making equipment in Devon, and spending all day in water, like living in microgravity, causes bones to shed some of their mineral content.

Literally confusing hawks and doves.

Usually #iNaturalist’s AI is pretty good at narrowing down to a genus, but sometimes it can get confused. Like this #pigeon sitting on a silk floss tree branch. It was “pretty sure” it was a *hawk*.

Um, nope!

I can sort of see that with the first image, but the second one makes it blindingly obvious!
