Saw this while walking around the other day.
> There were no results for “caulk.” Showing results for “cable.”
That’s…not particularly helpful
I’ve been finally catching up on recent #StarTrek series. I have…mixed feelings about Picard Season One.
Aaaaargh! Why would you have your webservice return a success code if it wasn’t actually successful!

I wonder if there’s a line of clothing for fans of e-cigarrettes called VaperWear.
Picking up on this again briefly:
None of these complaints is inherent to the structure or functionality of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc. They’re deliberate UI design choices to optimize for the company’s targets. A third party client could bypass it all (which of course is why they don’t allow those).
Similarly, Mastodon and Pixelfed and so on *could* implement UI like this, but they don’t. The project goals aren’t engagement at all costs. And each instance can have its own goals.
Someone could add an ATTENTION-GRABBING EXPERIENCE on top of the Mastodon or Pixelfed code.
And those of us connecting with different software wouldn’t be affected.
Or they could write an app that adds it! Though I’m not sure many people would consider that an improved experience.
Then again, people do use Yahoo mail. 🤷♂️
IMO there are two sensible ways to handle granular push #notification preferences:
1. Use the system’s per-app settings for all of it. (Tusky does this, even putting your per-account preferences in the system UI)
2. Use the app’s settings for all of it, and let the system just be an on/off toggle for what you’ve chosen in the app (like it was before the system had UI for it)
And while I’m griping about Instagram, why the heck are the detailed notification preferences split between the app and the system notification UI?
That’s terrible design.
Well, if it’s intended for usability, anyway.
If your goal is to make people see more notifications, though… 🙄
Well, whatever it is, the fever seems to have broken yesterday and now I only feel exhausted. So that’s another sign pointing to not-covid.
Still, so much for getting out this weekend.
I figured the sore legs were probably from biking up & down 6 miles of hills yesterday
The neck pain from sitting propped up in a posture that i know gives me neck pain
The fatigue from not sleeping well
Light headedness could be migraine related
But then the chills started. And the fever hit.
Home COVID test came out negative, going to take a pcr tomorrow. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve gotten sick with COVID like symptoms but a negative test.

No one else in the kid’s class has come down with COVID, so that’s good. Also means I’m not likely to have caught it from him, since he hasn’t shown any sign of it since the exposure alert
—
I don’t remember what I wanted to do this weekend, but it’s cancelled now

When your head feels hot and the rest of you feels cold, you know something’s not right

I’m really annoyed trying to figure out where I could’ve gotten it.
If it’s stealth COVID, it may have been from sitting outside Starbucks on Monday. But again, I was outside most of the time and wore an N95 to walk inside to order.
If it’s the flu, it might be the restaurant I got takeout from last night. I had to wait longer than anticipated. But again, masked while inside.
I could’ve just been unlucky and hit the 5% chance.
Does anyone else here pronounce the ‘wp’ abbreviation for WordPress (as in wp-admin, wp-config, etc.) as “whoopie”?
Kid did karaoke at school today.
“Can you guess what I sang?”
“Never Gonna Give You Up?”
“No, too many had already picked it.”
(Yay for schools with lots of outdoor spaces)
For the record: We don’t talk about Bruno.
And now I’m thinking about the clip the kid found where they cut out the word “frame” from “7-foot frame, rats along his back…”
And I figured, they must be womp rats. They’re not much bigger than two meters.
A #mockingbird I caught just after it took off.
Or is it a mockingbirb?
…you mock Doc Ock Spock schlock rock on the clock.
I looked into the same thing a few months ago and nothing was quite what I was looking for (lightweight with albums and indieweb metadata) Piwigo was the most promising candidate I looked at, but I never quite got around to trying it out.
This is a helpful list:

I’ve been contemplating building my own photo gallery setup on top of Eleventy, though. It’s really flexible.
Butterfly-friendly native CA plants purchased from a local conservation group have collected a caterpillar! Looks like a Sphynx moth.
Now I just need to finish transplanting the rest of the plants into the actual ground!
And I just remembered I ran into exactly the same problem on one of my hobbyist pages a couple of months ago, only with a completely different stack generating the file and a completely different program reading it.
No wonder I didn’t think of it at first.
