A #mockingbird I caught just after it took off.
Or is it a mockingbirb?
Some birds spotted on a hike yesterday morning: a California Towhee (the mature one perched on top of a bush) and a bushtit (looking very birb-like). A whole lot of the latter were flying back and forth between the trees on either side of the path, barely stopping long enough for me to point the camera in the right direction.
I swear I’d lose my head if it wasn’t screwed on…wait, there it goes…
Who knew a hawk could be a #birb?
Spotted in a park. Probably a Cooper’s Hawk.
I heard a lot of chirping from this tree, and saw a cluster that looks like it could be a nest near where this hawk was standing guard. It just kind of looked around the whole time even as I walked past the tree. If it was standing guard, it must have been able to tell I wasn’t a threat.
Birb, or serious bird? What a difference a few seconds makes!
Fluffy #birb.
(A #sparrow spotted on top of a light pole. I could *hear* it easily enough, but it took a while to spot it – and once I did, I was glad I had the zoom camera with me.)
Saw this #birb on a suburban bike path today. Some kind of Phoebe, apparently https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/37541271
