The courtyard was at least someplace they could set up chairs and signs reminding you to keep your distance. I saw a few people walking through on their way to somewhere else (like I was), and could hear an exercise class running in the parking structure next door.

Meanwhile, in the more curated parts of the gardens…

(The sphere in the distance is a sculpture by Doris Sung called “Fuller,” inspired by Buckminster Fuller. I always think of it as the buckyball.)

Who puts a fountain in the middle of a library?

Library Fountain on Flickr. “Who puts a fountain in the middle of a library?”  That was essentially my reaction to walking into the Huntington Beach public library a few weeks ago (though it looks really nice), and I was reminded of it when I stumbled on this quote in Lev Grossman’s The Magician’s Land. Now I know why my wife laughed when I showed her the picture the day after *she* finished the book.

Two night shots from after WonderCon

Two #night shots from after #WonderCon. The lower image is a #fountain outside the #Anaheim Convention Center. The upper is a corridor of the well maintained but nearly #empty Anaheim Garden Walk mall. The anchor restaurants at the front look like they’re doing fine, but behind them, the mall is barely occupied.
