Just perched on top of a power transmission line tower.

I saw this hawk(?) from a distance, standing above the dead bird behind it on the suburban sidewalk up ahead. Unfortunately all I had was my phone, so I just zoomed as much as I could and started walking slowly, hoping I wouldn’t scare it off. I was a couple of carlengths away when it flew off and stopped in a tree across the street. I took another photo (which didn’t come out) and walked away.
My guess: 1. it killed the crow. 2. When it went to the tree, it was waiting nearby for me to leave so it could go back.

I took a walk
and then I got to see a hawk
Perched on top of a transmission tower where I’ve occasionally seen a hawk before. There are at least two in the area, as I’ve seen them flying together a couple of times.
Was going to run to the store after work before curfew hit. Stores were already closed. Came back, got out of the car & saw, I kid you not, a mourning dove on a wire and a red-tailed hawk circling behind it.
Hard to tell on the phone resolution, but damn, you can’t make this shit up.
I’d been wondering if all the red-tailed hawks I’ve been seeing in this area were the same one – it turns out there are at least two of them.
I saw 4 or 5 crows repeatedly dive-bombing the top of this palm tree, cawing loudly, and heard the screech of a hawk at one point. It wasn’t until after the crows had given up that I made it to the other side where I could see this hawk just holding still. It flew off a little bit later.
This was out in an open space where I’ve mostly seen small birds like sparrows, plus crows, seagulls, pigeons/doves and the occasional red-tailed hawk.
I went hiking at a marsh preserve over the weekend and saw a ton of birds, including five different species of duck. But the coolest sighting was this red-shouldered hawk, which stood perched in a tree, looking around until it decided to fly to another tree for a different vantage point.
And this hawk(?) is definitely *not* a birb…but I saw it on the same bike path in the middle of the suburbs. It landed on a transmission tower and looked around for a few minutes before flying off. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/37541270 #birds #nature

This solitary hawk(?) landed in the scaffolding of a transmission tower above a suburban bike path, and stayed there, looking around, while I walked closer to it. After a few minutes, it flew off to another tower.
