Butterfly-friendly native CA plants purchased from a local conservation group have collected a caterpillar! Looks like a Sphynx moth.
Now I just need to finish transplanting the rest of the plants into the actual ground!

#Clover. One flower out of a field.

And in related news, this confirms that @pixelfed now supports image uploads from @Tusky !
(That’s been the one thing missing from just using the Pixelfed website on my phone: it works great in a browser or as an installed PWA, but uploads can only start in the website. You can’t start with a photo gallery and share images to the site or PWA.)
Went for another hike today. I think this is the best photo from the walk.
#Birds of #MadronaMarsh. There were a zillion red-winged blackbirds, at least one group of goldfinches, some starlings, and of course the usual geese and ducks.

Context: I was driving past a park that has a pond with a year-round population of ducks and geese and attracts other waterfowl. Usually near the pond.
This isn’t. It’s at the edge of the park. I pulled over because there was a whole…duckload of mallards just grazing their way down the street along the grass.
Well, that's a #finch of a different color!
A lesser #goldfinch and a #housefinch are both visiting the #birdfeeder.
Thought I'd try a black-and-white edit of the sunbeams in the park. I kinda like it!
Looking across the bay toward Catalina Island in the distance.
Hazy shade of a southern California winter.
There's a former railroad route to the coast that's been converted into a greenbelt and walking path lined with trees. Some parts (not these) specifically focus on native California plants. Others open into grassy parks.
And for kicks, I converted the silhouetted #finches and tree to a stark black and white image. I kinda like it.
Nice comparison of turbulence in a Baltic Sea algae bloom and storm clouds on Jupiter showing the same structures

Said I’d do this back in March 2020 if/when I caught COVID.
