The Morrell House, originally built around 1906, now restored in association with the Redondo Beach Historical Museum.
One of these days I’m actually going to go there when it’s open, instead of stopping on the way somewhere else.
I did decide that the hidden light and the old house might have some #spooky potential, and ran it through some effects filters. Not sure if I succeeded.

I saw this squirrel running across the grass, then got my camera out and caught the first photo as it ran up the side of a tree and paused, looking at me as if assessing whether I was a threat or not. Then it ran the rest of the way up to look at a gap in the tree, perhaps assuring itself that its stash was still where it had left it. I walked around to see that there was a hollow between the two major branches, and the squirrel turned around and planted itself firmly, staring at me as if ready to defend its hoard.
My photos taken, I walked away.
I could just imagine the squirrel proclaiming, “Turn back, traveller, and do not cross the shadow of these woods! Turn back now, while you still can!”

This squirrel was running on three legs, holding it’s left front leg up. It looks like it’s injured.
Amazingly I did manage to get one sharp #photo of it before it flew off again. Which was fortunate, because I saw at least a dozen of these tiny #butterflies zipping around the bushes, but none of them slowed down long enough for me to catch them clearly.
Anyone know what species of #hummingbird this is? Please let me know here or directly on the iNaturalist entry

OK, the guy with the camera probably doesn't expect me to go *back* to the tree, so maybe I can make my escape…
We were out for the monthly #PokemonGo Community Day, and I spotted this #BlackPhoebe just as I spun a Team Rocket-occupied stop. Somehow I managed to get a decent photo of it while battling Team Rocket.
Not the one from the previous photo, but another one spotted on the same hike.
Interesting #RollingShutter effect on this #butterfly’s wings as they moved too fast for the camera’s sensor. Probably a #GrayHairstreak.
