I saw the Venus and Jupiter conjunction after all!

I saw the Venus and Jupiter conjunction after all! After the muggy cloud cover all day I figured there wasn’t much chance, but it actually cleared up (and cooled off) after nightfall.

Venus and Mars are all right tonight. My camera arm, on the other hand, seems not to have been as steady as I thought

Last night I had a perfect view of the conjunction of Jupiter, Venus and Mercury, but only a phone. Tonight I had a more obstructed view, but I think the power lines ended up making it a bit more interesting than a plain photo with this camera would have been.

It’s also astonishing how quickly Mercury moves. No wonder they named it after the god of speed.

Planetary triangle. I had a clear view of the Jupiter, Mercury and Venus conjunction last night, but couldn’t get a picture with my phone. Tonight I had a camera, but power lines hung in front of the only view I had. (I didn’t have time to go looking for another spot.) It makes for an interesting effect, though, doesn’t it?

The #Moon and #Jupiter in near conjunction, two views. Upper left with the cameraphone, lower right with a better camera. Nothing makes you appreciate how bright the moon really is like trying to avoid overexposing it without making the second brightest planet disappear. #astronomy #planets
