Normally I only see one or two coots here, along with more ducks and geese. Maybe I was just looking at the wrong end of the pond.

Geese at the amphitheatre.
This city park has a pond which attracts ducks, coots, seagulls, and as near as I can tell a permanent flock of Canada Geese that wander around the banks of the pond and the open space at the south end, where these terraces are located.
Let’s just say I don’t think I’d want to sit on the ground in that part of the park.

I only saw two ducks today. Usually I see more here.

I saw two or three coots right by the water.

Canada Goose
There were several dozen geese, some on the grass and others on the pond. And I saw several fights break out, with shouting like this, or charging. Mostly against other geese, not the ducks or coots, and I don’t think any of them actually connected.

Apparently Polliwog Park doubles as a flood control basin. We moved to the area at the beginning of the drought, so it never came up before (so to speak). It was on the way to work, and the storm had moved on, so I stopped to take a look.
