Both lizards were doing make-myself-look-big pushups.

Some birds I saw on a hike today
Some #birds I saw on a hike today:
- One of several Black Phoebes I saw around the grounds of the park
- A California Towhee that had just chased another bird away from this puddle.
- One of the clearest views I’ve had of a hummingbird away from a feeder.
- Possibly a goldfinch? There were a bunch of them in the same bush.

Fox Squirrel
Mealtime, apparently. And it wasn’t concerned with me at all.
Fox Squirrel (injured leg, SCBG)
This squirrel was running on three legs, holding it’s left front leg up. It looks like it’s injured.
Anyone know what species of hummingbird this is?
Anyone know what species of #hummingbird this is? Please let me know here or directly on the iNaturalist entry
Thanks!
iNat users suggest it’s an Allen’s Hummingbird.
Shadowed sundial
Not sure how I can tell time with it under these circumstances…

Lizards
I saw several of these really tiny lizards skittering around. I don’t know if this is just how big they grow, or if they’re juveniles. I think they were only about three inches long including the tail.

A Gulf Fritillary butterfly. A few weeks ago at the same gardens, I saw tons of monarchs. This time I saw a lot of these.

Tree Squirrels
Phoebis
I saw zillions of these yellow butterflies, but none of them would hold still long enough to photograph!
The original photo was way overexposed. I’ve tried to adjust it both to bring out the detail that was washed out without messing up the color balance too badly.
