I’m not big on zombies, but I really like Mira Grant’s (Seanan Maguire’s) Newsflesh series. That said, there’s one story I don’t ever want to read again. The one set in a post-Rising elementary school, showing all the anti-zombie precautions the school takes…and then how they all fail horribly in an extended metaphor for school mass shootings.

Great trilogy, highly recommended (and I'm not normally a zombie fan). The first book stands well on its own as a political thriller in a world where the humans have reclaimed the earth from the living dead…mostly.
I finished reading “Blackout” earlier this month. Highly recommended. The three novels aren’t zombie stories per se so much as they’re thrillers set in a world where zombies are a fact of life. Look under the name Mira Grant for “Feed,” “Deadline” and “Blackout.”

The CDC offers suggestions on how to prepare for a zombie apocalypse (or other disaster).
Um…what? (The actual stories seem to be dealing with real-world stuff like the Twilight *ahem* DieLite craze and zombie crawls, but still…)
