American Coot
There were a *lot* of coots swimming in the pond, and one or two walking around nearby.

Canada Goose
Sometimes I see a *lot* of geese wandering around the park or swimming in the pond. Today I only saw three: these two across the pond in the tiny wildlife “sanctuary,” and another that was standing on the near side of the pond a few feet away from someone (else) who was taking pictures of it.
Lesser Goldfinch (blending in with tree leaves)
White-crowned Sparrow
There were about four of these sparrows walking around the ground in the shelter of a bush and pecking at the ground.
Mallard
This pair of ducks was walking around an area of the park away from the pond.
Fleabanes and Horseweeds (one straight stalk)
Not surprisingly, the moon’s a lot farther away than that tree.

Western Bluebird
Western Bluebird
One of a pair of bluebirds I saw perched on a cable. One of them flew off as I approached, stopped on a nearby lawn, then flew back up to perch on the edge of a roof. The other waited on the cable

Birds against blurry backgrounds: Black Phoebe
And one more in this series of “Birds against blurry backgrounds” from Monday’s walk, a black phoebe.
I like how this dark-eyed junco came out, too.

I saw a *lot* of different birds on a walk in the park yesterday. Here are two Western Bluebirds – one male and amazingly bright blue, the other either female or a juvenile male. I’m not happy with the image noise on the first one, but I *really* like the way the second one came out.
