How specific is the claim being refuted?
Consider The Bowler’s response in Mystery Men when asked whether she’d put her father’s skull in a bowling ball:
“No!
…the guy at the pro shop did it.”
She could truthfully say SHE hadn’t done it…but that wasn’t the important part of the question.
