OK, I think the console has finished cycling through the accidental tab-hits on an empty command line and the long pause while autocomplete enumerates every executable file in the current path so it can give me an exact number when it asks if I really want to list them all
Ugh, no, it’s doing it on *all* tab-completion now (plus briefly flashing the screen white). I can’t remember what I had to do to fix it last time, and my search terms are failing me.
Oh, right, the flashing white screen is just the visual equivalent of the alert when sound is off.
Argh. you know what? It’s 5pm on Friday. Time to just reboot and deal with it on Monday
