A new (or at least previously unrecorded) type of aurora has been identified, one that looks more like rippling sand dunes than the vertical curtains of light usually seen.
The current hypothesis is that it occurs when an atmospheric wave gets trapped in layers of the mesosphere, causing it to propagate horizontally, and that wave intersects with the charged particles that produce an aurora.

Sliced my thumb washing one of the good kitchen knives. More annoyed at myself than anything, since it’s a clean cut in several senses of the word and pressure was enough to stop the bleeding. It’s probably going to hurt more while it heals than it did to start with.
TBH I’m kind of surprised it took this long.
Realized that now I’ll get to find out just how many things I use my left thumb for that I don’t notice.
Neighbor kid has been learning to play Bohemian Rhapsody on piano for the last couple of…months, now that I think about it. Lately her brother has started singing along. He…doesn’t have Freddie Mercury’s range.

What’s the point of white-meat-only chicken nuggets? The main advantage of using chicken breasts vs. other cuts is that you can get a big solid slab of meat instead of a bunch of smaller chunks. If you’re going to grind up the meat anyway, you don’t need a big slab, and if you over-use one part of the chicken over the rest, that’s a lot of waste.
I know a lot of allergy statements are just CYA, bit honestly sometimes I read them as “fuck if we know what’s actually in our food, please go away”
