Whoa… It turns out the #Arecibo observatory’s collapse was caught on two video cameras, one at the control center and one on a drone that was being used to inspect it.

Kid wants to learn animation. He’s used Wick, but it can’t do everything he wants to do, and he’s used up a trial of Adobe Animate.
I don’t want to support Adobe’s Creative Cloud keep-paying-every-month-forever subscription model.
Question for the fediverse: What animation drawing programs have you used? Which ones have you found to be easy to learn, capable, reasonably priced, etc?
We’ve looked at some of the other programs here, but I’m hoping for more context:

I’m shocked, shocked to find that a student at the kid’s elementary school has tested positive for covid-19 during the week after (checks notes) a holiday that traditionally involves large gatherings over an extended period of time with lots of talking and eating.
OK, not that shocked. Especially with cases *already surging* in the LA area before Thanksgiving.
I wonder if they’re still planning on opening up the TK-2 grades to hybrid on-campus learning.
Fog rolled in during the washing machine cycle, and rolled back out during the dryer cycle. If I hadn’t done laundry in that narrow window, I probably wouldn’t have noticed it at all.

I always assumed the Tandy company that sold leather and the Tandy company that sold computers were different companies.
Turns out nope, they were the same. Tandy Leather bought Radio Shack in the 1960s.

This is especially weird to find out today, because today I also found out (through randomly seeing a mention on Twitter) that the Michelin Guide to restaurants and Michelin tire company are the same Michelin, not two different Michelins as I’d always assumed

Me: “What *world*?”

Had to go in the other room for Duolingo. I’m back on German again & started a lesson on shopping, and every time the app said “verkauft,” my wife would crack up because it sounded so much like “fuck off”
I find it kind of hilarious that ~2 years after Flickr got rid of unlimited free storage, they’re promoting themselves as an alternative to Google Photos as GP prepares to ditch unlimited free storage, because Flickr’s paid plan is unlimited, while Google’s paid plans “only” go up to 2 TB

In other news, the kid is watching a video of people playing Among Us where one of the players has his name. It’s weirding him out.
Close call…the bottle of tonkatsu sauce in the fridge looks a lot like the bottle of caramel sauce.
